PROFILE: Richard Kakube, CPA, is the Managing Partner at MK Richardson & Co. Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA). Richard holds an MBA from Uganda Management Institute, CPA certification from Certified Public Accountants Uganda, Bachelor of Commerce from Makerere University, CTA certificate from the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Uganda, Diploma in Education from Kyambogo University, ACCA Certificate from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the UK, and a Certificate in Strategic Procurement and Logistics Management from Makerere University.
With over 25 years of experience, Richard has been a team leader in numerous Audit and Assurance engagements across public and private sectors. He has also spearheaded various business advisory and training assignments. His expertise spans audit and assurance, internal audit and review, tax advisory, financial management and investigation, investment advisory services, human resource planning and management services, financial administration, and training and capacity building. Richard has served on several Boards as a non-executive Director, including as the head of the finance committee for Dei Biopharma, a leading Pharmaceutical facility in East Africa.
CAREER SUMMARY:
Since 2019, as Managing Partner at MK Richardson & Co., Richard has overseen 26 consultancy engagements, including audits in corporate and civil society organizations.
From 2011-2013, he directly supervised and managed the audit of 14 sub-counties in Pallisa, Butaleja, and Tororo Districts, Eastern Uganda, under the office of the Auditor General.
From 2006-2018, as audit manager with KAL Associates Certified Public Accountants, he managed audits for 56 corporate entities, handling statutory and compliance aspects.
In 2010, he developed the NARO Internal Audit manual and Charter and conducted training workshops.
In 2005-2006, Richard, under Alliance Business Consult, trained 16 SACCOs in Eastern Uganda in financial management, accountancy, and procurement.
From 2003-2014, under BIZ & Company Certified Public Accountants, he conducted financial audits of the Local Government Development Project Monitoring Unit (LGDP-PMU) for two financial years under funding from the Ministry of Local Government - IDA funding.
